NO:ID Gallery 2005 - 2011

NO:ID Gallery was a creative hub and an art venue in East London, starting up in a former council housing office in Shoreditch, and enjoying a second incarnation in the entrance area of a private building in Whitechapel. The project ran between 2005 and 2011. During this time, we served as creative venue for both spacial and time-based art, fine artists, multi-media artists and avant-garde musicians with considerable success in terms of publicity and creativity. We still host a now dormant email list of over 5.000 addresses of whoever was interested in this project, on which we were always keen to not only publish events within our own project space, but events anyone put on who was supportive of the project.

Identity is the core issue of our time, and a particularly challenging issue from an artistic viewpoint. We contrast and challenge current, event- and persona-driven developments on the art world (i.e. its commercial top-end) by underlining that one of the key missions of art is to challenge who we are and who we think we are. This notion places art above personality. We believe that during its physical existence, NO:ID Gallery has served to raise awareness on this and related issues. Besides that - it was enormous creative fun. Thanks for everyone who has supported us through the years.

NO:ID Gallery will be back one day. Please follow the development of the artists listed here carefully - wonderful artists they are.
