Technologies of the Self

How do we construct our 'selves'? What is the limit of self? How far can we participate in and subvert the cultural, physical, psychological, financial, sexual, political selves that we identify as?

Performing 'self' is a daily affair, perhaps even necessary for survival and for our level of inclusion in society. As we choose our languages, registers, our clothes, our performance of gender, performance of nationalit(ies), and so on, we play with enormous creative power. Just what are the technologies we employ every day in order to create our 'self'? How far can we subvert the performances that are no longer relevant to us?

'Technologies of the Self' is an invitation to discuss these issues through conversation and performance. Watch this space for more information about how to get involved.

The festival is led by Annouchka Bayley.
